France made up her mind to quit smoking in New Year. Starting with the January the 1st smoking prohibition in public places was put into action in France. The debates against smoking started in France 1 year ago when smoking was banned in all public institutes. Starting from 2008, the French are not permitted to smoke in cafes, pubs, casinos, restaurants, and discos. Smoking prohibition obliged the owners to provide their organizations with special rooms for smoking with special ventilating system. If they don’t have possibility to buy such equipment, smokers will have to smoke outside. We should say that France is among the most smoking countries in EU, almost 1/3 of the people at the age of 15 - 75 smoke cigarettes. Besides tobaccoa and cigarettes can be bought in bars, cafes and restaurants but not in cig vending machines or stalls. And French people prefer smoking their cigarettes near the bar counter while drinking their coffee. They less inclined to smoke somewhere outside. Constant clients are angry with such measures. Some of them say they would rather smoke cigarettes at home with a cup of coffee. Those who break the Law have to pay 69 Euro for smoking cigarettes . In their turn owners of these places will have to pay 136 Euro.
